ABOUT THE ARTIST AND THE RECORDING
Timothy Alexandre Wallace, pianist/composer and improvisor extraordinaire, has been performing publicly since the age of 9. He attributes his musical talent coming from his maternal grandparents, both being professional musicians before marrying. His repertoire ranges from Bach to Rachmaninoff and he often includes improvisations, at times based on the composed music he has just performed. "Improvisation has been with me from the very beginning and it is a tradition for me to engage the audience in this spontaneous art form. My approach is that of 'stream of consciousness', where one idea leads to the next without thinking or planning ahead. It is truly a spontaneous expression." As quoted by Jim Denley: "Improvisation is surely the most direct and uncomplicated way to organize sounds. No paper, pens, conductors, interpreters or programmes, no trappings and paraphernalia. Just people creating music, at the moment, only for that moment. Two consequences of this are that improvisations are unrepeatable and unpredictable." A Gift and The Desire is about that genetic gift of music received and the desire to develop, excel and to share that gift with the world. After many years of receiving requests for a recording, it is now available on AlbaRoseRECORDINGS, a new label founded by Wallace. He owns and operates Studio 59 and the Alexandre School of Piano in Torrington, Connecticut. |

MAY
Rise of the Phoenix
The story of the Phoenix is as old as time. The tale of a bird burning itself every 500 years in order to renew its immortality has been passed through all major civilizations since the ancients Greeks. Sensing old age and lackluster, the mystical bird collects kindling and fans its own fire while nesting upon the flames. From the ashes of the old Phoenix, a young and beautiful Phoenix is reborn. By overcoming fire, death, and old age, the Phoenix represents triumph over adversity and rebirth into glory, thereby providing hope and enduring.
